Analysis of My Job Name Institution Tutor Date Introduction I work as a part time employee at McDonald Company as a cashier. The job is interesting and has given me a wide range of experience specifically in terms of working and coordinating with other employees at different levels in the organization. This paper presents a reflective writing of my part-time cashier job in the McDonalds Company. Background of the Company McDonald limited company is an Australian company that franchises and operates the McDonald chains of restaurants. The company is employing over 6800 staff and has it’s headquarter in Thornleigh, New South Wales. The company is part of the US-based Corporation of McDonald. The primary activity of the McDonald Company in Australia is the establishment and operation of different service family restaurants. About 80% of the McDonalds restaurants are owned by different franchisees who pay McDonald Company service and rent fees. The other 20 % is operated by the company (Sara, 2008). Job Requirements The McDonalds cashier is one of the most accessible jobs in Australia. It involves several responsibilities. When I was employed; I was assigned a number of responsibilities in the company. My primary responsibilities are to take orders from the customers, prepare menu items and display friendly attitudes at all times. I also work at the restaurants front counters and drive-through the window. I replace different inventories and different food supplies when necessary and sanitized the dining room and working stations as required. I work for twenty hours per week. The job requires that I possess basic knowledge in handling kitchen equipment such as stovetop and fryer operation, prior to my employment (Smith et al., 2013). Based on the fact that I am working in a large international chain of fast food, I am paid a competitive salary and I also receive various benefits. I started with minimum wage. My pay has increased based on my performance and the time I spent burger chain. I benefit from the 401(k) plans and paid vacation. Other work benefits that I receive include health insurance with the dental, medical and the vision coverage. My job is to provide the customers with accurate information that they require to know about the McDonald company services. The company’s stores also rely on me for several in formations that can enable them perform their work efficiently (Nyland et al, 2009). Individuals Who Are Essential To My Job The first individual who is essential to my job is the McDonald Crew Member. He works in the kitchen preparing different types of food and also helps me work at the counter to take orders. The second person is the supervisor of the McDonalds Company. He supervises my work and ensures that I work according to the regulations of the company. The supervisor ensures that my health is in good condition. The third important group is the operation consultant. The consultant educates me on my roles in the company. They train and reward me for the job well done. The last outstanding individual in the company is the account clerk of the McDonald Company. The clerk verified different transaction I made in my operations in the company. Characteristics of the Crew Member that Impact Our Interaction The crew member possesses some responsibilities that make us interact and helps me perform my job efficiently. Their responsibilities are divided into three main parts. They conduct food preparation, customer services and provide hygiene and cleanliness. The crew member possesses good customer service skills when dealing with different customers. I am always impressed with the right skills the crew member always possesses and try to use the same skills to relate to my customers. The crew member can provide the customers with quick and accurate service; they show sensitivity to their needs in the company. These characteristics of the crew members always impact my work as a cashier in the company (Robbins et al., 2014). The crew member maintains a high level of hygiene and cleanliness in the company. They can use a variety of cleaning chemicals and utensils together with proper protective equipment .through this, they can provide a clean environment for my operations. The crew member believes in quality during food production. They cook a variety of food using an extensive range of tools and equipment. The crew member makes me believe in quality when doing my work in the company. High quality is vital for any activity or job in the McDonalds Company (Bergman et al., 2011). Characteristics of the Supervisor That Impact Our Interaction The McDonalds supervisor possesses some characteristics that influence my operation as a cashier in the company. They ensure the safety of employees and maintain high standards of service delivery to the customer. The supervisors are always accountable for their operations. They are well trained on how to be responsible for the day to day activities. The supervisors have a clear understanding of how creative thinking can be used in the restaurant. He instructs us on the appropriate labor laws, policies, and safety and security procedures in the restaurant. This is of great importance to me since I can know the rules and regulations and the policies of the restaurant. This improves my operation as a cashier (Robbins et al., 2014). Again the operation consultant rewards, trains and recognizes the results from different levels in the restaurant. This motivates me to work extra hard in order to get the rewards and be recognized as a good worker. They also ensure individual development plans are implemented, and the objectives of diversity staffing are met. This enables me to develop as a cashier in the McDonalds Company. They also complete various audits; this includes auditing of my work to ensure that the McDonald Company met the set standards (Bergman et al., 2011). The Nature of Interdependence between Me and the Crew Members The crew member provides me with hygiene and clean environments for my work; they clean the restaurant and set it free for my operations. I find it conducive to work in a clean and hygienic environment. The crew member also possesses good customer service skills that enable him to interact with the customers effectively. I do borrow this skill from him and try to develop positive customers’ relation skills. This greatly influences my interaction with the customers. The crew member can also help me serve my role in the company. They can handle the customers more efficiently even in my absence (Robbins et al., 2014). The Nature of Interdependence between Me and The supervisors The supervisor ensures my safety as the employee of the McDonald Company. I expect the supervisor to provide all measures within the restaurant that can keep me safe from any danger. I expect the supervisor to be creative in their thinking. They have to find all the solutions to the problems that I may face in the restaurant. They can influence me and make be creative in my job. The accounts clerk will enable me to improve my service to the McDonalds and be accountable in all my operations (Robert and Peter, 2011). Diagrammatic representation of the interrelationship Effectiveness, efficiency and the satisfaction of those concerned in the relationship The interrelationship is very effective, efficient and satisfies the concerned individuals. This is because, I can obtain different benefits from all the groups, and they are also able to benefit from my service. The relationship will make all the concerned bodies to improve their work and activities in the restaurant. The McDonald can retain more profits when the relationship is emphasized. I find it a success relating to these groups and feel motivated in my work. The managers can supervise effectively when there is a right and proper relationship with other organs in the restaurant (Daft, 2006). Recommendations More interrelationships should be created in all the departments in the McDonalds Company. This can be done through team building. This will encourage team work, and the restaurant can realize increased profits. Team work will also make all the work relationships to grow stronger than it is. It is through work relationships that I can be able to acquire all the relevant knowledge and skills on how to perform my roles well. Through the interrelationship, I can understand different policies and regulations of the restaurant. An interrelationship is essential for the success of the McDonald Company. The account clerks can get the necessary in formations for accounting purposes. Conclusion The company indeed impacts me with variety of skills. I am able to socialize and work with other employees in the organization freely. From the time I was employed as a cashier in the McDonalds Company, I have enjoyed a sound relation with the supervisors, crew members, operation consultant and the accounts clerk. We work together to improve the profitability of the company. Our relation has been a success over the few years we have worked together. Its indeed gratifying to work at the McDonald Company.
