My sister is two years younger than me and since her birth, I felt that all I had has been now snatched from me and provided to her. Such thoughts made me feel jealous of my sister. So, I always tried to hurt her and compete with her in all aspects from my parent’s attention to toys etc. But this initial rivalry was then transformed into a healthy relationship based on trust and sharing due to my mother. She was very much annoyed by my attitude, so in order to improve my behavior she decided to give me autonomy. One day she left both of us alone for a few hours and went to the market. I was almost five years old at that time and felt the responsibility my mother imposed on me. In those few hours, I didn’t try to hurt my sister instead did everything to let her feel comforted. I prepared instant noodles for her. All that I did enhanced our relationship and I considered her a blessing. Then as my mother returned she inquired about how I managed the house and then explained the rationale behind her decision.

Since that day I learned the value of our relationship and never competed with her on anything and the rivalry was replaced with love and care.
