eople who dont accept homophobia these days, but in football and other sports it has become much more evident, as fans shout homophobic insults at players, referees, opposing fans and others. This doesnt end with it, as coaches and players also display very homophobic behavior, one that has most terrible effects mostly for the gay players, who have to remain in the closet, hiding their true identity so that they wont be abused and suffer repercussions like losing their job or their status due to their homosexuality.

But the homophobia also has detrimental outcomes for gay fans, which are insulted, and even to children (both straight and gay) that feel that they have to be masculine and prove their masculinity unless they want to be ridiculed and maltreated. Clearly, something must be done to stop it; and the main parties involved that can help solve this problem are the FA and football clubs. They seem to be claiming theyre absolutely supportive of tackling homophobia and make major promises and declarations.

However, they actually dont really live up to these, and some clubs as well as the FA hardly do anything contributory, while contemporaneously claiming their doing all that is in their power to stop homophobia. It is therefore safe to say that the lack of improvement in tackling homophobia can be attributed to them. The 19th century was a liberating one for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. In this century, monumental changes were made in regards with homosexuality- it became from an unacceptable and repulsive anomaly or disease to an accepted and acknowledged thing.

Furthermore, with the quick modernization and globalisation of the world, the attitude toward homosexuality has drastically changed for the better. Today, being gay is largely accepted and isnt a taboo, and the general atmosphere and approach toward homosexuality are much better, so far so that some laws have been legislated in favour of homosexuality in a few countries,
