1.Discuss how the theories of Holland, Super, Gottfredson, Brown, and Krumboltz converge in their ideas, and also diverge from one another. In other words, how are they similar, and where do they differ? Be specific Career development goals are crucial towards harnessing growth and development. Career development are crucial to present adaptive environment. They all agree that practical development in career is crucial towards personal development. Conducive research indicates that implementing methodologies that are acquired in school initiates from giving individuals real life example. In the career-development world, Holland, Super, Gottfredson, Brown, and Krumboltz shed some light on process-goals. Process-goals are steps that lead to career development goals. In order for individuals to implement these strategies, it is crucial that they get exposed to real-life scenarios in which they can be able to compare and contrast their acquired skills set. For instance, increasing their proficiency would mean sitting down them individually or in small groups and explaining the concepts to them through real-life methodology. All of them also agree that collaborating is undoubtedly essential in order to thrive in any profession as the thoughts of ideas, knowledge, and practices are exchanged. They tend to agree that individuals must follow a network of collaboration, goal-setting, and practical theory that enables them to harness their career. The traditional career development model is to educate first and then apply these skills, which can be problematic because of nurture and nature development. Most careers entail long coursework, which may or may not be relevant to that particular skillset. This holds true in some of the technical careers, especially the ones around the automotive career involve more of practice work. I think it is crucial to understand that some immigrant families have a hard time assimilating. 2. Choose a particular population for one of the following aspects of diversity: age, gender, sexual orientation, or disability, and discuss the issues which you will need to be aware of in order to deliver career counseling effectively. Also, how will your own background and identity be a factor for you in working with this particular population? You will need to utilize a minimum of two journal articles for this question. A huge issue that only plagues immigrant, especially women immigrants as business owners is gender inequality. I have first-hand witnessed gender inequality, which has become apparent over the course of my years in career counseling. Gender inequality is one of the most pivotal points of emphasis and observation in American discourse. Gender stratifications are defined as social inequalities between men and women. Gender inequality remains to be a focal point for several reasons. Gender role is an intriguing subject that takes into account of several aspects. One can argue that gender roles emerge from culture due to various reasons. Cultures adhere to gender roles because they assign responsibilities to each gender based on family needs. The idea of gender disparity in school, government and overall progression of women is clearly hindered in the growth for organizations. As a matter of fact, the lack of confidence can be a huge factor when trying to pursue a goal because mental confidence is highly needed for pursuing anything. In order to be effective with my clients, it is crucial to give them an understanding that a mutual symbiotic relationship has to be harnessed. I believe that co-ethic communities are crucial towards helping them because it gives them the feeling of belonging. Co-ethic communities provide benefits to both women and business owners by conducting a collaborative efforts and creating strong channels for trading. This allows communities to have an outside presence and be proactive at a micro-level. 3. Discuss a traditional career development model and the embedded assumptions mainstream counselors are likely to bring to their work. Then apply this model to the following situation and discuss what you need to modify in your approach in order to be effective with your client. How will your own beliefs impact your work with this client?  Evidently, communicative competence is a key elements studies confirm that if individuals are not given the opportunity to synchronize language components that are taught in school, they will not be able to effectively implement them verbally. Another micro counseling approach undertaken by two researchers as depicted in the text confirm that individuals must be able to engage in a classroom freely without any strict guidelines. Taylor and Wolfson termed this technique as microcounseling. Micro counseling is a procedure in which individuals are engaged in developing skills through listening, role-playing, practice, and feedback in a nurturing environment. Micro counseling continues to be a critical element that seeks to demystify the enigma of the education process. Undoubtedly, the micro counseling is a vital tool that educators implement in order to solidify the development of linguistic and interpersonal skills of international individuals. I think it would deem to be a good plan to rectify this issue. Another huge challenge for certain demographics, especially Hispanic immigrants and women along with gender disparity is understanding the language itself. Many immigrants have no idea how to communicate effectively in a language, which creates a huge a gap to attract new customers. Not able to speak English properly is a huge detrimental flaw because they are scared to look foolish. From my personal experience, I think it is crucial to understand and relate to the similar adversities that elderly and female go through. This is because the lack of confidence can be extremely detrimental to self-growth. I also think lack of communication and public speaking can be as bad because it limits communication. 4.Identify and describe your decision-making style as we discussed in class. Be specific and give details. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your style in relation to working with clients on career planning. What are three things you will need to develop/enhance in order to work effectively with future clients? The situation as described is a common theme in many cultures because of the cult of domesticity and adhere to family values, but at the same time confining one to opportunities. I think it is crucial to highlight this because new opportunities such as this are not present in other countries. Immigrants, especially women are in dire need for these opportunities. From a cultural perspective, it is hard to understand this issue, but this is America where opportunities are endless. It is safe to say that these opportunities can be pursued without violating culture. Hence I would approach this issue in three aspects. First, I would signify the importance of solution-focused career counseling. I think it is extremely crucial to understand that career counseling enables individuals to have a genuine reflection of what they are trying to achieve. This means to apply their developed skill-set to something that is ideal to what they want to achieve as a career goal. However, that cannot flourish without employee motivation itself. Motivation has been defined in various ways and by different authors. According to text, ‘Motivation is the term used to describe those processes, both instinctive and rational, by which people seek to satisfy the basic drives, perceived needs and personal goals, which trigger human behavior. This therefore describes the ways managers promote increase in productivity from their employees by applying various motivational models or approaches. Second, create an environment of open dialogue and communication. I feel that its best to ensure nothing gets misconstrued the way I communicate. One of the classical models of communication I came across the text is known as Motivation and Behaviour change model is also applicable even though so much used in promoting good health seeking behaviour or life styles. This theory builds on effective communication, engaging in a reflective manner, keeping in mind the need to work at the pace of the individual, allowing room for negotiation and setting realistic and attainable goals. Again this can be applied to positively influence the factors identified earlier-noting that the central mission will be on effective communication such communication will clearly allow for common set realistic and achievable goal, recognizing individual pace, keeping focused and ensuring that reward for behavior change is properly communicated and upheld. For individuals pursuing their career, keeping them well focused on organizational goals and ensuring their ambitions or personal target for individuals is attained will become a self-sustaining motivation as summarized in the IMB theory which indicates that the personal will maintain behavior, thus subsequently sustain performance once they have attained the stage of self- motivation for stipulated reward. The last element I would embed to approach this issue is to mentorship. I think mentorship and apprentice hood is necessary to fix this issue because mentors have approached these similar notions. As the flux of more than 150,000 adult immigrants migrated to this country, the challenge is even more everlasting. The most innovative ways to transfer vocational trainings to these new arrivals. Although this method may be effective for short-term, it is difficult to believe that Individuals will somehow implement these tactics into their own English in order to communicate in a successful manner. Brown argues should not be limited to discrete point grammar tutoring to individuals but also facilitate Individuals to synchronize discrete points into their English for developing effective interpersonal relationships. Discrete point testing refers to integrative testing that measures an individuals student’s proficiency level. Works Cited Brown, D. (2007).
