Polidori’s Vampyre and Dracula by Bram Stoker In Dracula by Bram Stoker, and Vampyre by Polidori, the significant warning sign is blood, vampires and ghostly settings. Characters like the vampires kill susceptible characters like Mina (Bram 165). The settings are ghostly that forms a creepy atmosphere in the night as human beings avoid places such as graveyards. Blood is linked to vampires, together with vampirism; they rely on blood to exist. The books dwell on supernatural aspects that are founded on, dim, and turbulent nights, destroyed castles with undisclosed passage and forces of evil fighting the good spirit (Polidori 187).

In both books, women are given powerful roles, for example, the female vampires. Although Bram’s book depicts the various roles obligated to women, one significant role stands out. This is because of the structural social change in the 19th century. Women are depicted as evil while vampires signify threat. The characterization of the female characters into an inhuman female vampire represents the social changes in the present times (Bram 178). The male figure withdraws to the marginalized recesses as the new woman, in the form of a vampire, finds her newborn freedom.

Women fiction incorporating female vampire is a means to conquer women weakness. Stoker paints the vampires in black as it symbolizes anguish and sorrow. It also represents evil and is at times considered the color of the devil. In the vampire, the characters have long hair that is red in color and pale background. This shows that the female character signifies evil. Munch puts the woman over the man thus showing complete control. The man lies submissively in arms of the woman a role upheld and related to the socially together with an ideal woman.

The sexual reversal is evident also in Stoker’s Dracula. The female vampires stand above the man as he lies down (Polidori 321).Masks were a common element in sacred rituals and other events to mark offerings, dance together with theatre. The mask symbols were a form of identification, in that if an individual was not in a position to tear off the mask it remained ones identity. The legends believe that fighting the evil spirits requires are the symbols of absurd good. This creates the familiar image of a Vampire as a symbol of seduction as she is an enticing combination of both sex and death.

The battle to counter Dracula uses Christian symbols like crucifix. The book talks about the power and influence of the Christian symbols. Dracula is a symbol of religion as he is inclined to the evil world that is stressed by his physical outlook. He has flaming eyes and a sharp nose. His consumption of blood cuts him from spiritual existence. It is also a ritual that perverts Christianity (Polidori 167). The Westenra weird sisters are cursed into eternal soulless. The book talks about the outcome of the women destruction by preying on innocent children as they recruit other individuals into their evil ways.

The death of the three women conforms to the Christian salvation promise. Lucy second death transforms her into purity and innocence. Her soul comes back after undergoing a conversion of holiness. Dracula face assumes a peaceful look. Stoker shows a liberal vision to salvation and its implications.
