? Newspaper comic strips about the U.S population Task: Introduction The main aim of this project was to determine contribution of the media on the United States population. Several newspapers have had different opinions on the U.S population. Some have predicted future tremendous decline of the population of the whites. In 2010, official national census was conducted in the U.S. The census revealed that the white’s population stood at 72%. Another objective of this project was to make a comparison between the comic strip opinions with the official national census of 2010. In justifying or rejecting the opinions of the newspapers, I would determine the compatibility of the two sources. People should develop interest in as it confirms or reject comic newspaper information on population. It enables the audience to find out if the humors made about population in the newspapers are real. For instance, several newspapers have given various opinions on the U.S population. Some of the information might be exaggerations. They might quote very ambiguous figures concerning the diminishing population of the whites in the United States of America. This project sampled some parameters that can be used to ascertain the compatibility of the information revealed in the comic strips with the trusted official national census. As a result, the audience would establish a criticism or acceptance the opinions of the comic strips as far as the U.S population is concerned. Subjects for study This project required numerical analysis. The numerical figures provided in the results could then be converted to other forms of presentation. The use of numerical is advantageous by the fact that they give a sense of accuracy. This is realized when the data is presented to the audience. As this project concerned population, therefore, itwas expressed in numbers. Therefore, I used numerical figures to establish the relationship between the comic strips and the official national census. The units here were the number of people. I narrowed down my research to study the progress in composition of the population of the U.S. The media have revealed a threat to the white’s population in the country. This is due to projected tremendous increase in the population of other races. For that reason, I broke down my research to compare the specific values associated with different races. For instance, the research compares the population of the whites and the Hispanic. By making that comparison, it would be easier to study the relationship between the two parameters of the research. I used three items to study the population analyses. The first item I used was population statistics revealed by the Mailonline on December 12 2012. The item gave the outstanding population of the whites in the United States. In addition, it predicted the fact that current minority children were likely to be the majority population in the future. The item explains in details the progress of the U.S population from 1960 and even back. It also gives a prediction of the U.S population by 2060. I was able to collect substantial data from this item. The second item I used was the Mailonline dated June 13 2013. This item mainly focused on the progress of the composition of the U.S population. Its main point of stretch is the fact that the whites were to be the minority children under the age 5 by 2014. It predicted that the whites would be the minority population by 2043. The item also confirms the diminishing white’s population by pointing out that for the first time, the death of the American’s white population had outnumbered the births. It also uses graphs to present the, progress and composition of the U.S population. The third item I used was the Proquest dated January 2010. The item provides well-detailed presentation of their opinion on the U.S population. It shows the suggested figures for different races of the country’s population. It breaks down the individual variables into races, which enhances detailed comparison. The item also gives a prediction on the future of the U.S population. It affirms the fact that the whites would soon become the minority as far as the U.S population is concerned. I decided to use the above items because they contained the information I wanted. In my project, I could best present by research in numerical form. The items contained round figures, which enhanced easy comparison of the selected variables. Data collection Myvariables were mainly based on the population. The independent variables were, the total population, the whites’ population and the non-whites’ population. The variables defined the numerical values in units of the number of people. The dependent variables were the 2010 official census and the statistics as per different items. The analysis was done by comparing individual values of population of the four distinct sources of data. For example, it compared the total population of official census with that of the first item. The project was a cross-sectional study is it compares a given single parameter (population) with a vast of other identities (sources of information). Results The results showed that the different sources of data differed significantly. For instance, the 2010 census shows that the total population of the white stood at 72% of the total population. On the other hand, the first item showed that the whites’ population was 64% of the total population. The second item also showed a big difference. This is a clear indication that the sources of data varied significantly. Discussion The outcome of the research was very clear. The only trusted source of data is the official national census. It is doe with qualified personnel with highly accurate mathematical simulations. The society should consider it as the reliable source of information about the U.S population and composition. The other materials are exaggerations of the fact. They are revealed mainly to make appeal to the audience. The writers might be having personal motives in trying to give false information to the public. Most of them are steered to imply that other races will soon dominate America.
